Literature
Originally from Alsace in France, Samuel Fred trained as a jeweler in Paris and created the House soberly named "FRED" in 1936, on rue Royale. Calling himself a "Modern - Jeweller - Designer", he was passionate about the sea and sailing and created jewelry inspired by them, including the cult Force 10 Collection: he turned a braided cable into a piece of jewelry according to the tradition of the royal rope industry, with a ship's shackle as the clasp.
The two vintage enameled bracelets offered for sale feature gentle curves reminiscent of waves.
Exhibited
Cf. FRED, Jeweler Creator Since 1936, September 28th to October 24th 2022, Palais de Tokyo, for a similar bangle from 'Collection Mouvementée'.
