Condition report
A Christie's specialist may contact you to discuss this lot or to notify you if the condition changes prior to the sale.
The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
This report was prepared by Alvarez Fine Art Services Inc.:
This pastel on paper is in good condition overall. The paper does not present tears or paper losses. The paper is mounted to a cotton canvas and stretched on either a strainer or stretcher and nailed around the sides; the tacking edge is a bit frayed in areas. Exposure to humidity over time has caused mild planar distortions. The mild scalloping in the upper left corner is a result of the mounting and environment changes over time. Visually, the paper is mildly oxidized from contact with acidic material and a natural process of aging due to light exposure. There are two drip marks in the center of the image in the sitter's neck, one approximately 1 1/2" long and the other approximately 2 1/2" which are a bit distracting. Otherwise, the pastel media is very well preserved.
