As part of Christie’s Classic Week, our Contemporary Department will join forces with Old Masters Paintings to create a dialogue between centuries, offering our clients an innovative curated online auction platform.
Continuing in the success of the 2014 Christie’s Mayfair Exhibition The Bad Shepherd and the 2018 exhibition Sacred Noise, this auction will seek to recontextualise both the contemporary and old master works, under a new lens which highlights the continual thematic threads which have occupied artists throughout the ages –a creative dialogue between Bruegel and Condo, between Dutch Still Life and contemporary landscape, a dialogue which never ceased to exists.
Artists are, and will continue to be, inspired by one another. They are in constant conversation through a visual and cerebral language that spans the centuries, and this auction seeks to bring those dialogues to light.
